How Jennifer Aniston broke Instagram with one ‘Friends’ post

With one post Jennifer Aniston attracts 116,000 followers in an hour … and 6.3 million overnight.

Jennifer Aniston’s first Instagram post managed to temporarily crash the site.

The actress previously insisted she would not have a social media account but has now joined Instagram. Within an hour the account attracted 1116,000 followers and over night, after one post and a number of stories featuring celeb pals, it had 6.3 million followers.

Her debut caused the platform to temporarily crash due to the sheer number of people flocking to follow her account.

Her first post – a selfie featuring the main cast of Friend – garnered over 300,000 comments and 8 million likes in 12 hours.

In the photo, she poses alongside her former co-stars, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. She wrote: “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM.”

She was welcomed to the site by her friend and fellow actor Reese Witherspoon, who commented beneath the selfie: “YASSSS!!! Welcome to Insta Jen!!!”

Aniston has followed 110 accounts, including fellow actors as well as an interesting mix of the Dodo, Time, Everytown for Gun Safety and Architectural Digest.

With the 25th anniversary of Friends this year, we’ve been having plenty of Rachel Green memory moments lately as rumours of a movie swirled around.

However, Aniston dismissed the possibility of a movie earlier this month, saying: “Our producers wouldn’t want it, wouldn’t let us. It would have been fun. But whatever. Maybe it’s better this way, but we’ll never know.”

The 50-year-old also told US radio that the cast had a get-together at Courteney Cox’s home.

“We had dinner, the whole gang. Everyone was there,” she told Howard Stern. “Schwimmer was in town, we all happened to have a window of time, so we all got together.”

On that show she also ruled out a Friends reboot, saying: “I honestly think, [though] we would love it, there is an idea if there is a reboot of the show, it won’t be even close to as good as what it was.

“It would ruin it.”

It seems we’ll have to settle for Insta action instead.
