Stylist and photographer Tar Marz shares her New York City apartment
Welcome to IMAGE.ie’s Look Inside series. It’s all about real people’s real homes – our favourite part of our home and why we like that particular space so much. Every week, we’ll catch up with Irish creatives to learn about their favourite corner of their house; this week, it’s Tara Marzuki, the stylist and photographer behind the hugely popular TarMarz.com.

Tara Marzuki, an Irish woman who currently lives in New York, has an incredible eye for aesthetics. As a fashion graduate turned stylist and photographer, she sees beauty in the ordinary; transforming basic items and places into something creative.

Also known by her pseudonym Tar Mar, Tara set up her website TarMarz.com to show off her portfolio of work – and a quick scroll through this has left us wanting to know more.

Eager to learn about life in the Big Apple (not to mention her taste in interior design), we asked Tara about her favourite room in her home and why she likes that particular space so much.

“This is probably my favourite corner of my flat here in NYC,” Tara tells us while sharing a photo of her living space.

The room, which is beautifully lit, features a comfortable, two-seater Sven sofa (bought from Article online) in cascadia blue, with complementing cushions and throw. There’s also a unique, three-legged coffee table, which is personalised with eucalyptus and a scented candle.

“It’s minimal but cosy, with some mid-century modern details.”

The industrial lamp near the couch was sourced from a seller on Etsy, which Tara says she finds to be as cheap as Ikea, but more unique.

“There’s a lot of statement features and industrial accents built in already, so I styled my place around,” Tara says of her living room, making note of the high, exposed concrete ceilings and pipe-work.

“It’s minimal but cosy, with some mid-century modern details,” she adds. “I wanted it to be very inviting and somewhere anybody could come in and be comfortable,” she tells us. “I picked a corner unit with lots of natural light, so in the evening, it gets the most amazing sunsets in this spot!”
