Step into summer with the July/August issue of Image Interiors & Living

Long days and warmer weather (in theory, at least) mean that summer is the best time of year to make changes to your home, especially anything on a larger scale. That’s why our July/August issue of Image Interiors & Living is dedicated to big projects. Careful restorations, transformative renovations and sensitive extensions fill our pages to give you inspiration for whatever you might be hoping to tackle.

Elsewhere, we’re thinking about warm-weather dining, from al fresco accessories to foraging for Irish ingredients, as well as new restaurant and café openings to take note of. We also visit the flower-filled Dublin workshop of Sasha Sykes and the nature-surrounded Dovecot Gallery and Studios in Sligo, places that take note of the changing seasons more than most.

The Houses

Our cover star this issue is this dreamy holiday home in South Africa. Perched on a clifftop overlooking the sea, its Irish-American owner has a real eye for detail, and has completely transformed it from an unremarkable 1960s build to a show-stopping home.

Next up is the fun and colourful home of Irish interiors journalist and blogger Ciara Elliott. Full of imaginative ideas, such as these kitchen units she commissioned her artist friend to paint, it’s a playful family home that’s a far cry from the damp, run-down house her and her husband purchased. Pick up the issue to hear more about their renovations and see more of Ciara’s creative touches.

Finally, it’s another gorgeous holiday home – it is July/August, after all. Architect Jennifer Beningfield looked for a long time before finding the perfect spot for this house, and the views prove it was worth the wait. Earthy, pared-back materials and tones ensure it’s the ultimate relaxing retreat, allowing her to really get away from it all.

The issue is packed with big project inspiration, including four projects that transformed commercial spaces into homes, and inspiring restorations. If you’re planning an extension, make sure to have a look at our case studies that show what can be achieved with an imaginative approach, like this Ryan W Kenniahn project that blurs the line between the new addition and the existing house.
