Move over millennial pink, it’s all about millennial mint

By Laura Iunghuhn

1A-This is our main shot. 1B-This is sharp version. 1C-This is an image use to brush some darkness into the chair. On all images remove the stand outside the window. Remove the plug, air vent and nails on the wall. Make the chair on the right darker.

Move over millennial pink, it’s all about millennial mint

Put down the pale pink flamingo wallpaper and the sweet-hued cushion. We’re all guilty of it. Whether it’s cooing over the pink Gubi Beetle dining chairs or seriously considering a dyed-pink sheepskin rug. Alas, the moment has passed. The first official trend of the millennial generation has been laid to rest. In a velvet-lined, dusty pink coffin with grey accents, obviously. But fear not, the summery sorbets have not been entirely mass-consumed and therefore still have some life to them. Get a scoop of some millennial mint instead.

The colour first hit shelves a few years back without really taking off, partly because strawberry had a chokehold on ice-cream colour market. Cool and clean, mint green draws out our desires for a day by the sea, a lazy morning cosied beneath the duvet, and a relaxed afternoon sitting in a pool of sunshine with a book. Working perfectly with a clean aesthetic of whites and soft textures, it also brings a freshness to mustard and aubergine palettes.

We’re actually quite fond of this mood so rather than going overboard (hint: painting everything including your skirting boards in this colour qualifies as overboard) we’re introducing it bit by bit, through furniture and décor.

Perfect for indoor or outdoor, this side table is a simple way to add colour without overwhelming a space.

Not quite ready to abandon the pink? Just add a spot of the up-and-coming colour, a nonchalant nod to the trend.

Not one to follow trends, but can’t help falling in love with the colour? This cream white towel with mint green stripes is a subtle, and private, way to bring this colour into your home.

Worried mint green just won’t work with your current décor? Choosing a tray that can come in and out of storage is a great way to add variation to a room or an event when it suits.

For those of us who are daring, a piece of accent furniture in the trending colour would be the way to go.
