Ikea’s new bedroom collection with design giant Tom Dixon has just dropped

Ikea’s new bedroom collection with design giant Tom Dixon has just dropped

You’ve definitely already seen the sofa. Its curved, movable arms, the brushed silver platform legs, it’s been pretty much everywhere since it was released as the first part of the Ikea X Tom Dixon Delaktig collection. Designed with malleability in mind, the armrests can easily rotate, a footstool can be added or removed, it can become a large sofa or a petit corner seat.

Ikea and Tom Dixon, the British designer known for his “melt” lights and modest smooth-lined furniture, have just released the second part of this collaboration, this time focused on the bedroom. “We know the bed is the perfect unit of furnishing – in as much as everyone needs a bed,” Dixon says. So, this new bedframe is just that.

Created to accompany the sofa, the new Dalaktig bed frame builds on the same ethos – that furniture should work and grow with everyone. Delaktig in Swedish translates as “involved” and the new piece is certainly eager to fit in with your life. Made for 50% recycled aluminium, the frame is super lightweight and easily moved between spaces depending on how you need it.

It’s also got flexibility in style too, with two different headboards available – one in a natural rattan and the other in a sleek and modern black. As with the sofa, removable black side tables can be slotted in and out, removing the necessity and space for bedside units, as well as simple black lights that can attach to the bed frame.

As for the existing pieces, Ikea x Tom Dixon isn’t stopping with improvements. The same launch introduced three more durable cushion covers, so you can keep making these furniture pieces your own.

Available in king size and your choice of mattress, the Delaktig bed frame starts at €340. Price varies depending on headboard and accessory choices.
