Dublin artist Maser launches graphic yoga mat collection with Flowstate

Maser is known for his provocative wall art, colourful prints and distinctive graphic style. Now, his work can even enhance your morning yoga practise. The Dublin-based artist is about to launch a limited edition yoga mat in collaboration with Flowstate; a new fitness/lifestyle Irish business.

There is very little joy to be got from a downward dog on a discoloured, worn, sad-looking yoga mat. Fitness coach Adrienne Murphy was thinking along these lines as she sat on a runway waiting for a delayed flight to take off. Her mind then wandered into how exercise and meditation is no longer just that one hour class people attend each week; it has become a lifestyle. So why not combine art and movement? Nobody is going to get bendy if they don’t practise, and there’s a better chance practice will happen if there’s something gorgeous to bend on.

Twelve months later, and through joining forces with partner John Belton, founder of No17 Personal training, and Maser, Flowstate has become a reality. Maser’s art-first yoga mat goes on sale at 1 pm this Saturday, April 6 on flowstate.ie. Perfect to upgrade any flow session, it will also work beautifully when hung; bursting with vivid colours and overlaid monochrome chevrons.

Mats will be launched with a special yoga workshop at Atelier Maser, the artist’s cool new Dublin 2 studio, on Saturday at 11 am hosted by Orla Punch (to book a slot, see flowstate.ie). This will be followed by a pop-up shop from 1 pm.
