These 20 pieces are perfect outfit options for a spring wedding

The weather is a temptress who loves to play tricks. Over the past few days, there has been a distinct feeling of summer in the air.

There were whispers of people sunbathing in St Stephens Green and I have lost count of the number of people I have seen in short sleeve t-shirts and those souls who are braving it in shorts.

However, while it may look sunny, it is extremely chilly. And while us Irish are an optimistic bunch when it comes to the weather, we do need to reign it in slightly. The madness has permission to start after Lent is over.

When you think of summer, your mind wanders to days on the beach, drinks outside, barbeques and of course, weddings. The latter may horrify and excite you in equal measure but weddings aren’t just a seasonal thing. They are a year-long occurrence and spring is undoubtedly a popular time.

I myself have a spring wedding coming up and I am struggling to locate something suitable. Whether this is just me being my usual picky self or just being confused by the weather remains to be seen.

Nevertheless, when it comes to spring weddings, I don’t think any rules should be applied. Throw out the old notion that certain colours suit a season. You can wear yellow in winter and black in summer — it’s completely up to you.

The key to dressing for spring weddings is knowing you have options. Any of these pieces can be layered with a jacket or coat if it’s too chilly and if the weather decides to surprise us, you won’t feel like a furnace as the day’s activities go on.

Sumptuous satin and streamlined shapes will help to put a spring in your step and the myriad of colours means you, importantly, have a choice. A black dress can be accentuated by bright accessories, while a luminous number can be kept simple with chic gold jewellery and muted additions.

Most importantly, the day of a wedding is a marathon and not a sprint so comfort is key. And once you feel that completely, your outfit and the day will be a spring success.
