Did you know that Dublin is considered one of the top creative cities in the world by the European Commission? Our evolving city has a wealth of creative individuals who are defying creative constraints and redefining and reshaping the industry. In celebration of the diverse selection of creatives from the fashion and art industries, Brown Thomas Dublin is hosting an exciting exhibition comprising of six of Ireland’s established and up-and-coming creative professionals. These are a select few of individuals who are not only talking about their dreams but actualising them.
Titled Art & Style, the exhibition begins this Thursday, March 16th, and aims to draw attention to the vibrant arts scene that exists in Ireland today. The event will shine a light on Eva O’ Donovan, Shane O’Malley, Daniel Holfeld, Gill & Jill, Shane O’Driscoll and Emma Sheridan, who have each made a significant cultural impact in their chosen field. All the artists will be represented in the Brown Thomas windows and every week for six weeks, as well as a week-long exhibition instore on Level 1.
Speaking about the initiative, Brown Thomas Creative Director says ‘Fashion and Art go hand in hand – each drawing inspiration from the other. We hope visitors to our stores will find the exhibition refreshing and stimulating. We want to celebrate the diverse range of work that is being created by these artists and help bring it to a wider audience.”

Meet The Artists
Eva O Donovan’s paintings are constructed using a mix of fabrics and oil paints. Eva’s work is heavily influenced by fashion and interiors and usually features a figure in the foreground and a juxtaposing texture or pattern in the background. The result is a striking painting that’s deep in texture and utterly beautiful to look at.
Shane O’Malley is an Irish artist who promotes positive mental health through his large-scale public murals. Shane is among a leading group of contemporary artists who have emerged from Ireland’s vibrant graffiti subculture to work in the mediums of paint, murals and art installations. Originally from Navan, Shane now resides in Galway city and has exhibited and painted nationally and internationally. He has developed a unique visual language using bold colour and simple geometric shapes to communicate challenging concepts.
Daniel Holfeld’s origins are based in fine art. His career began by initially exhibiting his work in the New York Photo Festival, followed by exhibitions in London and Paris. Daniel sold many pieces during this time and became a collectable photographer within the art world. Developing on from fine arts, Daniel began travelling with his lens. Now based in Europe he has worked on fashion and beauty commissions in locations such as Miami, Oman, Dubai, Morocco, Venice, Amsterdam and Paris.
Emma Sheridan works as a designer, illustrator, stylist and art director in Dublin. In her illustrations, she melds street style, high fashion and pop culture to create free and quirky drawings. She has worked with designers, magazines and brands from the UK, New York and Milan. A traumatic life experience led Emma into illustrations and she loves the freedom it allows her.
Shane O’Driscoll is an Irish printmaker and visual artist that practices mainly in screen printing. He studied Visual Communications and is a member of Cork Printmakers and Graphic Studio Dublin. He has successfully shown his work at The Irish Print Museum, IMMA and has a number of works in the O.P.W. collection. He is also a director of For The Love Of; a platform for both emerging and established Irish creative talents, who showcase their work together in one accessible and contemporary environment. His work can be described as minimal yet concise.
Jill & Gill is a Dublin based collaborative studio, made up of illustrator Jill Deering and printmaker Gillian Henderson. Established in April 2016 while collaborating on a commission piece together, the two creatives’ business has grown organically, with collaborative projects and commissions for James Vincent McMorrow, Currabinny, Smirnoff, and Repeal project. Jill creates elegant hand-drawn images which they, in turn, produce into screen-prints in Gillian’s Dublin-based studio. Jill Deering is a sketch artist and musician based in Dublin. Jill’s ability to create likenesses of the subjects she sketches using tools such as pencil can be seen at the first glance when viewing any of her work. Gillian Henderson is a printmaker and designer based in Dublin.
