6 hair heroes to help you defy damage

The newest innovations in haircare come formulated to target three specific issues: the scalp, damaged hair and pollution. In the November issue of IMAGE Magazine, on sale now, Holly O’Neill tries the products that will renew your tresses.

Hair damage, the physical or chemical breakdown of hair, is caused by heat, chemicals from swimming pools, colouring and relaxing, UV, and mechanical abrasions like brushing. Protect hair with these damage-defying heroes…

The ghd platinum+, €225, uses predictive technology to recognise the thickness of your hair, the size of the section you’re styling, and the speed you’re styling at to ensure a safe temperature and, therefore, healthier hair.

A completely weightless foam, Kevin.Murphy Heated.Defense, €26, creates a protective barrier over the hair, while heat-protecting, smoothing and reducing damage.

Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair, €32, is a leave-in conditioner that repairs the hair and protects from heat damage. It’s 98% naturally derived, and, like all Aveda products, packaged in 100% post-consumer recycled plastic.

Think of the Kerastase Nutritive 8H Magic Night Serum, €43.20, as a night cream for your hair. It repairs the hair overnight, while completely disappearing into it, penetrating nourishing nutrients into the hair fibre.

Dyson reinvented the hairdryer with the Supersonic, €399, and the new Gentle Air attachment, €35, is for sensitive scalps and fine hair, giving a softer airflow while still drying the hair at top speed.

Apply Redken Extreme Play Safe, €26.50, to damp hair before drying, or dry hair before styling to protect from heat, reduce breakage and minimise the appearance of split ends.
