Everything we know about Gwyneth Paltrow’s Netflix show The Goop Lab

GOOP

Everything we know about Gwyneth Paltrow’s Netflix show The Goop Lab

Goop is coming to Netflix

The Internet would like you to know that Goop is a danger to our health. There will be blood on the hands of Netflix, according to Twitter, for commissioning Gwyneth Paltrow to create a TV show.

I would like you to know that I, for one, think Gwyneth Paltrow’s website goop is glorious. I love having a nosy into the crazed wellness routines of people in LA, with their microdoses of LSD at work to ” boost creativity” and celery juicing. I adore reading about mindfulness fanatics and I am in love with the LA doctors on the goop podcast who talk about health foods that Ireland won’t hear about until 2025. Oh, you’re still eating kale? Myself and the rest of LA are on ashwagandha and keto now. I actually do like body brushing and think Jean Godfrey June is a beauty icon and I would buy anything with her seal of approval. I love the recipes that I’ll never cook called things like Sex Bark and Spirit Truffles and the obscure-sounding foods in the ingredients list like rutabagas and yucca.

Contrary to what you and everyone else says, it’s not all vaginal steaming jade eggs. Not that the Netflix poster for Gwyneth Paltrow’s new show The Goop Lab is going to help kill off that particular conversation.

There’s certainly an, ahem, Georgia O’Keeffe-ness to it. If you listen carefully, you can hear Dr Jen Gunter screaming.

According to Netflix, the six-part series will take “the deeply inquisitive viewer in an exploration of boundary-pushing wellness topics, including psychedelics, cold therapy, female pleasure, anti-ageing, energy healing and psychics”. “What we try to do at goop is to explore ideas that seem out there, or too scary,” says Elise Loehnen, chief content officer at Goop.

In the trailer, we see the Goop team go on all kinds of alternative wellness adventures. We see extremist Wim Hof and having tried the Wim Hof method in Ireland for my monthly wellness column in IMAGE Magazine, I really hope it kicks off here as I cannot overstate the mind-boosting powers that a few minutes spent in ice-cold water can give you. We see some facial acupuncture, lots of crying, some psychedelic mushrooms and we see Gwyneth Paltrow and Elise Loehnen meet some sort of orgasm-guru lady. Did you expect anything less? And are you prepared to join my Goop fan club?

Check out the trailer for The Goop Lab below.

The Goop Lab is on Netflix from January 24.
